A nice ninth plate tintype view of a handsome young Confederate. He wears a gray uniform jacket with darker cuffs and collar, of a style seen on other soldiers from Tennessee, Arkansas, and North Carolina. The image is in very good condition, though is a shade or two on the darker side due to some halo effect. It comes housed in a pressed paper half case. A name appearing to be “John Ford” was etched into the reverse of the plate, but there is no additional information to substantiate the identification.
