Item No. 5200808

Four CDV images featuring General Stewart Van Vliet, his wife Sarah Jane Van Vliet, and their two young sons, Frederick C. Van Vliet and Robert Campbell Van Vliet. General Van Vliet is best known for serving as the chief quartermaster of the Army of the Potomac through July 1862. Robert would later serve during the Spanish-American War and World War I, retiring with the rank of brigadier general. Three of the four images have the imprint of Washington photographer R. W. Addis on the verso. They originally appeared in an album together, but were removed by a previous owner. A photograph of the original configuration of the images is included. The CDVs have been trimmed down as shown.
