$85.00

Item No.

A US Navy officer is pictured in this CDV image by Philadelphia photographer J. Cremer & Co. With finely combed hair, he cradles his pattern 1852 navy officer’s sword in one hand and inserts the other hand in between the buttons of his double-breasted frock coat in the popular style of the day. The rank device on his shoulder strap is partially visible, suggesting his rank may be master. On the revere is Cremer’s imprint under a 2-cent revenue stamp, which dates the image to the late-war period. The carte was slightly trimmed, likely for a previous album placement. Measures about 2 3/8” x 3 3/4”.
