A vignette CDV portrait of Jefferson Davis derived from a pre-war from-life photograph, but with his clothing retouched to put him in the uniform of a major general in the Mississippi militia. On the reverse is the imprint of Charles Fredricks of New York. The carte has slightly trimmed corners and measures about 2 3/8” x 4”.
