CDV of an officer in the Union Army, likely a captain or lieutenant. His forage cap has a large embroidered hunting horn insignia, indicating he served with the infantry. One hand rests on a book while the other is by his side. His pursed lips give an air of determination. On the verso is the imprint of Philadelphia photographer William M. Fly. A stain above the imprint suggests perhaps a revenue stamp used to occupy the space. Slight chip to bottom edge of mount. Measures 2 3/8” x 4”.
