Pictured in this CDV is John C. Frémont, the noted explorer, 1856 presidential candidate, and Union general. On the reverse is the New York imprint of E. & H. T. Anthony, with credit to the original Mathew Brady negative. Measures about 2 3/8” x 3 3/4”. Slightly trimmed corners. The albumen has some degradation toward the center of the image with the outer edges in better condition, indicating it was likely in an album for many years and suffered from exposure.
