CDV of Confederate General Fitzhugh Lee
CDV of Confederate General Fitzhugh Lee
Item No. 0298524
CDV of Fitzhugh Lee, the Confederate cavalry general and nephew of Robert E. Lee. A West Point graduate of the Class of 1856, he served with distinction in the Army of Northern Virginia, commanding cavalry under J.E.B. Stuart and later leading his own division. After the war Lee reconciled fully with the reunited nation, serving as Governor of Virginia, U.S. Consul General to Cuba, and a major general in the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War. In the CDV, Lee wears the uniform of a Union second lieutenant, likely in a sitting that took place shortly after his graduation from West Point. On the reverse is the imprint of Charles Fredricks of New York. Measures about 2 3/8” x 4” with the bottom corners of the mount slightly trimmed.
