This CDV view features an engraving of Confederate General Pierre G. T. Beauregard, standing in a 3/4 view with his arms crossed. He wears a double-breasted frock coat with the rank of a brigadier general upon his shoulders. Beauregard was the Confederate hero of Fort Sumter and First Bull Run in 1861. He served at various other posts from 1862-64 from Tennessee to South Carolina, including as Albert S. Johnston’s second-in-command at the Battle of Shiloh. He was instrumental in preventing Grant’s capture of Petersburg in June 1864. Good condition with 1/2” crease from bottom edge. On the reverse is the imprint of Earle’s Galleries, Philadelphia. Measures about 2 1/2” x 4”.
