A 5 1/2” x 4” unmounted albumen print featuring an assistant of photographer Mathew Brady sitting upon the famous Forbes Rock on Culp’s Hill on the battlefield at Gettysburg. This was the scene of much fighting during the battle, particularly on July 2, 1863. Note the scars of battle visible on the trees. The rock, of course, can be visited today on the battlefield. A pencil inscription on the reverse of the print reads, “Woods on R. Wing.”
