Sixth Plate Tintype of Infantry Sergeant Double Armed with Musket and NCO Sword
Item No. 6875444
Pictured in this 1/6 plate tintype image is an infantry sergeant in the Union Army. He poses wearing a standard frock coat with sergeant’s chevrons on his upper arms. He wears a wide-brimmed hat with an infantry horn that was tinted gold by the photographer. A company letter “A” is visible above the horn. Our sergeant is armed with a musket with bayonet attached. At his side is a non-commissioned officer’s sword in its sheath. He wears a leather belt with oval “US” belt plate visible, along with cap pouch. Both his sword sling and cartridge box sling have a round brass eagle plate. The only flaws in the image are two areas of irregularity in the emulsion in the upper-right portion of the image, and including the man’s face. Comes in a complete pressed-paper case.
