$135.00

Item No. 2152132

A very nicely composed, early post-Civil War CDV featuring a young Navy officer. He sits casually cross-legged and wearing heavy gauntlets. He grips the handle of his navy officer’s sword in one hand while displaying his cap in the other. Affixed to the front of the cap is a six-pointed star in a crescent moon, similar to badge of the army’s 7th Corps. Another unidentified pinback badge is displayed on his frock near the buttons. An army officer’s 1851 pattern eagle/wreath belt plate is visible at his waist. On the reverse is the backmark of photographer A. J. Fox of St. Louis, Missouri. The 406 Olive St address dates the image to circa 1868. Condition excellent. Measures 2 1/2” x 4”.
