CDV view of Sergeant Lewis I. Elliott of Co. A, 124th Illinois Infantry, a regiment that saw action at Port Gibson, Raymond, Champion’s Hill, Vicksburg, and Mobile, among other battles. Elliott is listed in HDS as having been a resident of Kewanee, Illinois. He mustered into Company A September 10, 1862 and mustered out with the regiment at Camp Douglas August 15, 1865. In this image Elliott poses wearing civilian clothing. No photographer’s imprint. Measures about 2 1/2” x 4”. Signed in period ink on reverse. The image came from an album of 124th Illinois members.
