Eighth Plate Tintype of Civilian with Coach Whip in Scarce Union Case (Berg 3-54)

Item No. 9549746

Offered here is an interesting eighth plate tintype of a bearded civilian wearing a broad-brimmed hat and long duster. He holds a large coach whipin his hand. Perhaps he is a carriage driver. When removed from the mat, a small wooden chair is visible to the right side. The image comes housed in dusty, but scarce, thermoplastic case (Berg 3-54) with a repair done to the bottom edge of the rear panel (see photo). There are two 1863 5-cent revenue stamps for playing cards (Scott R28c) affixed to the inside of the case behind the image.
