Offered here is an interesting autograph letter signed by Wendell Phillips (1811 - 1884), the nineteenth-century abolitionist, orator, attorney, and activist for Black and Native American rights.

4 7/8" x 5" autograph letter signed, “Wendell Phillips,” undated, to "Dear Bird," (fellow abolitionist Francis W. Bird) It reads, in full:

Dear Bird
There's a young man's case J. G. [?] Graham coming before you to pardon.

I think prison has done him all the good it can & public interest would be served by letting him out. Do oblige me.
