Offered here is an interesting May 1865 circular written and signed by 1st Lieutenant Theron Upson, of the 1st Connecticut Light Battery (and A.A.A.G. to Captain L. L. Langdon, commanding the 25th Corps Artillery Brigade), ordering men who were serving with the batteries, but were not part of the 25th Corps, to return to their regiments. This was in preparation for the 25th Corps expedition to Texas. The order reads:

Hd. Qrs. Lt Arty. Brigade
25th Army Corps
Camp Lincoln Va. May 22nd 1865

General Orders No. 18

I. In compliance with General Orders No. 58 dated (Hd. Qrs. Dept. of Va.) May 19th 1865, all enlisted men on duty with this Brigade not belonging to the 25th A.C. will be at once relieved from duty with the respective commands in which they are serving.

They will be sent to the Provost Marshal of the Corps to be forwarded to their regiments.

The document measures 7 3/4" x 9". The paper is in very good condition and isn't stiff or particularly delicate. Some minor wear to corners and edges.
