Offered here is an interesting Confederate Civil War document. Signed by John Withers, Assistant Adjutant General in the Confederate War Department, the order reassigned an infantryman from the 14th South CarolinaA. F. Parrott, to the 2nd South Carolina Artillery. It reads:

Richmond, 28th November 1864.

Special Orders,
No. 282.

I II. Corporal A. F. Parrott, Co H, 14th Regt So. Ca. Vols being unfit for nfantry service is hereby transferred to Co "E," 2d Regt So Ca Artillery and will report accordingly.

The order measures about 8" x 10" and is in excellent condition. Very little wear to edges and corners. Creases where originally folded.
