Item #SQ1681109

Offered here is a nice Civil War CDV featuring a portrait of a young man in civilian clothing. He is identified in pencil on the reverse as "Jake Rupert." A search revealed that Jacob A. Rupert served as a private in the 13th Iowa Infantry, enlisting October 18, 1861, and being mustered out on July 21, 1865. The back mark is for Smith & Wybrant, No. 405 Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky.

The CDV measures about 2 1/4" x 4" and is somewhat rough condition, having had some water damage at some point in its past. On the left side there is some separation between the albumen and the mount, and also some soiling along the left edge of the albumen. All sits nice and flat inside its protective holder, however.
