Here is an interesting CDV of Wendell Phillips (1811 - 1884), the nineteenth-century abolitionist, orator, attorney, and activist for Black and Native American rights.

Based on my Google research, this image was likely produced around 1863 or 1864. As CDVs go, it is crudely constructed. The 2 1/8" x 3 1/4" albumen was heavily pasted to a plain 2 1/2" x 3 5/8" mount. Excellent, crisp image of Phillips. Marked "Sour puss" in pencil on reverse. Very good condition, as shown.
