A nice carte de visite featuring Captain Frederick H. Man, who enlisted in May 1862 as a corporal in the 3-month 22nd New York Infantry. In August 1863 he was commissioned captain and served with the 79th United States Colored Troops through July 1864, when he was transferred to the 84th USCT.

The CDV measures about 2 1/2” x 4” and is in excellent condition as shown. The backmark on the reverse is that of Brooks & Blauvelt of Port Hudson, Louisiana.
