SALE PENDING

An excellent CDV of Lieutenant Charles D. Griggs, who was twice wounded on the Peninsula while serving with the 1st Massachusetts Volunteers (wounded at Williamsburg on May 5 and again at Fair Oaks on June 25, where he was shot through both legs). He was discharged for his wounds in September 1862, but joined the 2nd Massachusetts Cavalry in January 1863. That July he was commissioned lieutenant in the 36th USCT (originally the 2nd North Carolina Colored Volunteers).

The carte measures about 2 1/2” x 4” and is in excellent condition, as shown. No backmark is present.
