Item No. 5984466

Offered here is an interesting 1/4 plate Civil War ambrotype featuring a full-length pose of a very tall Union infantry volunteer. He stands in the photographer's studio with his hand resting on the chair to his side (it's the size of this chair that makes the man appear so tall...or maybe it's a small chair). Also, I can't be certain, but the hand on the chair looks like it may be missing a finger and thumb. He has his forage cap atop his head and wears a nine-button frock coat with piping visible at the cuffs. A covered table is next to the chair and patterned carpet is visible on the floor. The image is house in a leather half case. The image is a bit on the dark side, as can be seen in the photos, but it remains a sharp and attractive image.
