April 24th 1863

Dear Parents,
Please find enclosed $30 which please place with the rest. My health is good, with the exception of quite a cold at present, but will be over it in a day or so. the weather is very unpleasant at present. we got paid yesterday. 4 months. the next pay I hope to receive in Albany or New York. we will have to stay until the 17th of May and be discharged in the field. I sent by a guy from the company discharged instead of writing.

Your son
Robert A Hubbel
14th Regt NY Vols

The torn section of paper measures approximately 5" x 8". Aside from the tear, the paper is in excellent, sturdy condition, not stiff, and not particularly delicate even at the creases from previous folds.
