320.00

Item No. 3620136

A nice sixth plate tintype with a modern note supposedly identifying the subject as Private Thomas D. Eaton of the 4th Maine Volunteers, a regiment that fought in the 3rd and 2nd Corps of the Army of the Potomac. Eaton is seated with his legs crossed and his hands resting in his lap. He wears a standard infantry frock coat with a light blue vest underneath.

Eaton enlisted in June 1861 and was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps in July 1863. The tintype has a revenue stamp on the reverse and is in very good condition. It comes housed in half a leather case.
