Half Plate Tintype of Centreville, Michigan Saloon & Inn with Fourteen Patrons Posing

380.00

Item No. 8848633

A very interesting half plate tintype of a rustic scene depicting a clapboard hotel with attached saloon, with reversed sign for the "Centerville Saloon," most likely referring to Centreville, Michigan (where the image was purchased by the previous owner) over the door, and an antler rack perched at the roof peak. Fourteen figures are posed on the porch and balcony of the hotel, with one figure in the foreground gesturing with his hat extended in his hand. Unidentified, though a river or lake appearing in the distance at the right may provide a clue.

The tintype is in good condition with several minor bends and a few scuffs. Includes glass, mat, and preserver.
