An interesting general order dated February 25, 1864 from Louisville, headquarters for the District of Kentucky. The order, issued by General Stephen G. Burbridge, states that the commanders of several sub-districts were to be shuffled. It reads:

I. General Orders No. 13, current series, from these Head-Quarters, assigning Brig. Gen. E. H. Hobson, U.S. Volunteers, to the command of the District of S. W. Kentucky, are hereby revoked.

General Hobson will resume command of that portion of the State to which he was assigned by General Order No. 61, series 1863, from these Head-Quarters, and known as the District of Southern Central Kentucky.

II. Col. Cicero Maxwell, 26th Kentucky Volunteers, is re-assigned to the command of the District of South-Western Kentucky, the limits of which are defined by G. O. 61, November, 1863, from these Head-Quarters. Col. Maxwell will establish his Head-Quarters at Bowling Green, Ky.

III. Col. H. G. Gibson, 2d O. H. Artillery, is assigned to the command of the District of Northern Central Kentucky, with Head-Quarters at Camp Nelson, Ky. The limits of this district are defined by G. O. 61, November, 1863, from these Head-Quarters.

IV. The troops serving in that portion of the State south of the District of Northern Central Kentucky, and not included in the other Districts named in this Order, will report to Col. Z. R. Bliss, 7th R. I. Volunteers, commanding District of Middle Tennessee, at Point Burnside, Ky.

By command of Brig. Gen. Burbridge.
A. C. Semple,
Assistant Adjutant General.

The order is signed at bottom by an unknown aide de camp, “R Vance.”

The single-sided order measures about 5” x 7” and is in excellent condition as shown. Minor toning. There are two holes in the left margin for mounting in a binder.
