Item No. 3015102

A lovely quarter plate ambrotype of a Union private wearing a greatcoat and holding his forage cap by his side, which appears to have the familiar “NHV” brass insignia beneath an infantry horn. On his other side is his M1841 Mississippi Rifle with sword bayonet fixed. This man is most likely a member of the 9th New Hampshire Volunteers, who were so armed. Gold gilt was applied to the buttons of his coat. The image is in very good condition with no cracks in the glass plate. The image is housed in a full thermoplastic case (Berg 3-20) with some very minor chips along the edges.
