Mid-1850's Daguerreotype of Young Infantry Officer
Mid-1850's Daguerreotype of Young Infantry Officer
Item No. 4361692
Pictured in this sixth plate daguerreotype image is a mournful young infantry officer, likely from the regular army. He wears a frock coat with the shoulder straps of a second lieutenant. The shako atop his head bears the brass hunting horn insignia of the infantry. He wears a gold ring on his pinkie finger. Circa 1855. Light spotting throughout. The image has been previously resealed. It is housed in a full case as shown. Really a nice, clear image of a young officer who very likely went on to serve during the Civil War.
