Pictured in this circa 1890 cabinet card is a young soldier of the 2nd Massachusetts Militia, Company E. He wears a 9-button frock coat with a leather belt secured with a Massachusetts plate. One hand is behind him while the other wears a white glove and holds a bugle. The Company E armory was located at Orange, Massachusetts, so it’s not surprising that the artist’s imprint is that of Orange photographer George H. Thompson. Excellent condition. Measures 4 1/4” x 6 1/2”.
