This September 1864 document on letterhead of the Confederate Navy Department is a pay warrant for $20,000 “to be issued in favor of Assistant Paymaster T. G. Ridgely P.N.C.S. at Charleston, S.C.” The listed appropriation reads, “For pay of the Navy.” The document is signed by Secretary of War Stephen R. Mallory along with several officers and auditors. A cancellation mark is in the left margin. The document is in very good contain with minor paper loss at the upper-left corner. Reverse is blank. Measures about 8 1/4” x 13”.
