A nice patriotic cover featuring a satirical cartoon critical of the Confederate seizure of US installations and the US government’s failure to stop him. It is titled “Uncle Sam & Jeff” and depicts Confederate President Jefferson Davis burdened down with supplies and weapons labeled “Norfolk,” “Charleston,” “US Treasury,” and the like, while Uncle Sam invites him to take more. Forts Pickens and Sumter are labeled in the scene’s background. The cover is unused and measures about 5” x 2 3/4”.
